Deep Sleeper, Rocky Start But Worked!

We have a very deep sleeping 5 year old. Wet every single night, but refuses to wear pullups. After we talked to her about this product, we decided to try. After the first week, it seemed like a mistake because the alarm would go off so loudly and wake everyone in the house except for her! We were all so exhausted during the beginning. After a week, she started to wake up/be coherent when the alarm would go off in the middle of the night, and then wake up dry in the morning. It definitely boosted her confidence. On the 11th night she made it all the way through, but we didn't start seeing big improvement until the 3rd full week of using the alarm (she'd be turning off the alarm before I got to her room vs sleeping through it). She almost made it 14 days of being dry, but we had to start over again after a few wet nights. Then after successfully completing 14 consecutive dry nights, we stopped using the alarms. Total time spent from start to finish was 9 full weeks. She's had a few wet nights since we finished, but very rarely. Extremely refreshing since she was wet every single night for so long! She's very proud of herself, and we're happy to have way less laundry to do!

That is a great effort! Well done for perservering and getting bedwetting sorted :)

Excellent

The alarm arrived the day before we left for a camping trip and it definitely saved us from having to wash a sleeping bag every night. The alarm went off with no issues and we were able to wake up our son and take him to the toilet. Sometimes needing a fresh nappy but others the alarm had gone off with the first drops so essentially still dry. Previously when waking our son to go to the toilet during the night he would refuse but the alarm seemed to trigger a better response where he was happy enough to do it. He is now going through a dry phase which he does periodically so we will keep the alarm handy for if he goes backwards. Definitely recommend trying this as it worked perfectly for us.

We are so please that worked for him. All the best for the future. If he does go back to wetting, you could use the alarm and the overlearning strategy to resolve it.

1 STAR 🌟

My review:
This product is not the best, as sometimes the alarm may not go off. In addition, whilst sleeping - deep asleep - it is hard to wake up. I recommend adding a vibration on the alarm located inside his/her/their pants. My point is, that it is hard for deep sleepers to be woken up.

Thanks for the feedback. Please let me know if you would like further guidance on helping deep sleepers and optimising the alarm triggering.

Questions Parents often ask

Most likely, a bedwetting alarm solves bedwetting for up to 9 in 10 young people. We have many resources and lots of experience so can guide you if needed.

Typically, 70% of young people will be dry in 2 to 12 weeks using our alarms. Some are quicker, some take longer. We encourage you to use the resources we provide and talk to our adviser to get the best outcome for your young person.

Yes, it is very safe. Our alarms comply with all regulatory requirements around the use and safety of electronic devices. Also, when the sensor detects moisture, it transmits twice for only 1.3 seconds to trigger the alarm and then stops transmitting.

We suggest ditching the diapers as they can remove the feeling of wetness which may interfere with the learning process. If you need the diapers to reduce the stress or mess, then go for it.

Children may eventually learn not to wet the bed on their own. However, at the age of 9, 50% of bedwetters will still be wetting the bed. This can interfere with their self confidence especially when it comes to school camps and sleepovers. Therefore, helping your child to stop wetting at night, in the same way as most children are taught to use the toilet during the day, can do wonders for their self esteem.

Many children have low levels of ADH, but DON'T wet the bed. If low levels of ADH are an issue, your doctor can advise the best form of treatment.

Yes, you can use our strategies for deep sleepers to help them learn to sleep dry. Remember MANY children are deep sleepers and don’t wet the bed.
